New legislation would lower Rhode Island state sales tax

A pair of local lawmakers is expected to introduce a bill at the State House, to lower Rhode Island's sales tax.

Representative Jan Malik (Dist. 67, Barrington, Warren) and Senator Walter Felag, Jr. (Dist. 10, Warren, Bristol, Tiverton) have scheduled a news conference Tuesday to discuss their bills.

They say a lower sales tax would make Rhode Island more business- and consumer-friendly.{}

A press release promoting Tuesday's announcement did not include their proposed sales tax figures.
