A new poll released Wednesday by Providence Mayor Angel Taveras shows him in the lead over General Treasurer Gina Raimondo in a possible Democratic primary for Rhode Island governor in 2014.
Neither of the potential candidates has made an official announcement that they're running for office.
The poll was released to NBC 10 from Taveras' finance director, Peter Baptista.
Garin-Hart-Yang, a pollster for Taveras, surveyed 400 likely voters statewide from Sept. 10-12.
Forty-nine percent of them supported Taveras, 30 percent supported Raimondo and 21 percent were undecided.
Two weeks ago, Gov. Lincoln Chafee announced he would not run for a second term. Ken Block of the Moderate Party is the only announced candidate for governor.
