Nine injured in multi-car crashes

There are new details to report about a multi-vehicle accident in Providence early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened on Route 6 at the Atwells Avenue overpass just after 1 a.m.

State police told NBC 10 the driver of one car was falling asleep when her vehicle swerved and hit another car.

That crash caused a chain reaction crash involving four other vehicles.

The further complicate things four more cars trying to avoid the first crash and ended up in a crash.

In all, nine people were hospitalized, though their injuries are said to be minor.

There is no word on vehicle damage as at least seven of the cars had to be towed from the scene.
