Norton man faces charges in fatal Mansfield crash
MANSFIELD, Mass. —
A Norton man is scheduled to appeared in court to face charges in connection with a crash on Route 140 in Mansfield that killed a Raynham man.
Authorities said 23-year-old Nicholas Salvo is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Attleboro District Court on charges including motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence in connection with the Friday night crash.
Police Lt. Sam Thompson said the victim, a 63-year-old Raynham man, was extricated from his car by firefighters and taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.
Thompson told The Sun Chronicle that Salvo was speeding and ran a red light.
Salvo required treatment at the hospital and was held on $10,000 bail. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
