A flash freeze brought slippery travel to parts of southern New England overnight and Thursday morning as rain turned to sleet and light snow.
Storm Team 10 Meteorologist Kelly Love says the wintry mix will be tapering off and skies will clear by later this afternoon. But temperatures will continue to fall into the low 20s as the arctic air remains in place.
The National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories until midday Thursday for parts of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The area missed the heavy snow forecast in northern New England and upstate New York, but around 5 inches could fall in the northern Berkshires.
