Pawtucket man tries to hit officer with car
PAWTUCKET, R.I. —
A Pawtucket man is under arrest after he attempted to hit a police officer with a vehicle early Saturday morning during a disturbance call in Pawtucket.
It was just before 5 a.m. Saturday morning when officers responded to a disturbance call on Armistice Boulevard between two males, upon arrival officers discovered that one of those males was inside of a vehicle.
Major Arthur Martins tells NBC 10 that James Spader, 46, of 24 Brown Street in Pawtucket was charged with Felony Assault after he allegedly almost hit the officer who was attempting to get him to stop the vehicle. Fortunately the officer was able to jump out of the way, and the vehicle continued to flee the area.
According to Major Martins the suspect and the vehicle were located shortly after and Spader was taken into custody. Spader has been charged and was arraigned Saturday morning before a bail commissioner with bail set at $5000 with surety.
