Pawtucket police ask for public help in assault case

Pawtucket police are asking for the public's help locating a man they said assaulted a teenage girl.

Police said a 17-year-old girl was walking to a school function at Tolman High School on Aug. 3 when she noticed that a man was following her.

She continued walking toward the school and periodically looking behind her. Police said the girl lost sight of the man.

Police said when she entered the school parking lot from Blackstone Street she felt a hand cover her mouth. She elbowed the man and was able to break free from his grasp.

Police said the girl ran to the school and asked for help.

She described the man to police as a heavy set man in his 20s with pale skin, about 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall. The man was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt with a white zipper, black jean shorts and white sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Bachand-Doucet at 401-727-9100 ext. 769.
