Police: Man assaulted during home invasion

Police say they are looking for two men in connection with an assault at a home in Warwick.

Warwick police said they are looking for two assailants in connection with an assault and home invasion.

According to Maj. Raymond Gallucci, two Hispanic men wearing masks forced their way into a home on Warwick Avenue at about 2 p.m. Police said the men assaulted the homeowner, identified as 22-year-old Antonio Rivera.

Rivera told police that he saw one of his assailants carrying a gun, but no shots were fired.

Police said was Rivera was transported to Kent County Hospital with injuries that were described as non-life threatening.

Gallucci said the two assailants left in a black Acura SUV.

Gallucci said police were confident that it was a targeted location and not a random act.
