Police hunt for jewelry store robbers

New Bedford police are looking for two men who robbed a jewelry store.

Police said the men, one of whom was dressed in women's clothes, were buzzed into Correia Jewelers on Acushnet Avenue at about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The man in the women's clothing wrestled the female owner to the floor and duct-taped her mouth while the second man took rings out of a display case.

The robbers escaped out a back door.

The owner was able to free herself, and she called police.

Police said the men were in the store Saturday, apparently to case the business.
