Police ID 2 victims in Mansfield fatal train crash

Late Sunday, an Amtrak train heading from Washington, D.C., to Boston hit a vehicle in Mansfield.

Mansfield police have released the names of two men who were killed Sunday night when the SUV they were riding in was struck by an Amtrak train.

Police said further forensic testing is needed to positively identify a third victim, a woman.

Identified were 26-year-old Zachary Keene, of Raynham, Massachusetts and 28-year-old David Curry of Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The three people were traveling east on the tracks in a 2000 Land Rover between the Gilbert and Elm Street overpasses when it was struck by a train from behind at about 11:52 p.m. Sunday.

None of the 180 passengers or crew aboard the train, which was heading to Boston from Washington, was injured.

Mansfield police, Amtrak police, MBTA police and the Bristol County District Attorney's Office are still investigating the accident.
