Cumberland Police Chief John Desmarais said Maria Bouvier and Roland Bouvier have been identified as the couple who died in their home on Easter Sunday.
Police said they received a 911 call at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday for reports of gunshots at the Victorian Court condo complex on Nate Whipple Highway.
The 73-year-old man and his 70-year-old wife were found dead in their bedroom. The couple's 40-year-old daughter and three grandchildren also lived in the home and heard the shots and called police.
Police said Roland Bouvier shot his wife Maria twice in the torso with his .32-caliber handgun. He then shot himself in the head.
Desmarais told NBC 10 that the Bouviers were described as a loving couple and that both of them had severe medical conditions.
A note left to the family mentioned that "they didn't want any more pills and no more pain."
