New Bedford man shot in the back
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. —
A New Bedford man was critically injured in a shooting.
Police said the shooting happened at about 11 p.m. Wednesday at 25 Mosher St. on the south side of the city near Clarks Cove. When police arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound lying in the second-floor hallway.
He was immediately taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was in critical condition Thursday. Detectives said they have been unable to interview the man due to his medical condition.
Police said he told officers that he went outside to smoke a cigarette when he was shot by a another man. There were about seven people in the second floor apartment at the time.
