Providence police are investigating the city's 7th homicide of the year, following a fatal shooting on Wednesday morning.
According to NBC 10, 46-year-old Richie Arenas, was shot in his driveway outside his home on 81 Leah Street at about 10:30 a.m. Arenas was reportedly shot in the head.
Neighbors told NBC 10 they heard what sounded like fireworks, but later heard it was three gunshots.
According to police, Arenas was targeted and it did not appear that the shooting was a random act.
Neighbors told NBC 10 that Arenas liked working on cars.
"Just difficult to believe that would happen to him knowing he's a good person and he was just sitting outside doing what he does," one neighbor said.
No arrests have been made in the case.
"It's a struggle to deal with violence. We've done our part last week alone. We seized four guns. We have all the facts on this now, but it just began, so it does not appear to be random at this point," said Col. Hugh Clements of the Providence Police Department.
