A Richmond man is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol with a 12-year-old in the car, police said.
Police said 38-year-old Joseph Maggs was stopped for speeding after he was driving 61 mph in a posted 45 mph zone on Kingstown Road on Thursday.
Police said Maggs was arrested on suspicion of DUI after failing a series of field sobriety tests. According to police, Maggs had a blood alcohol level of .161.
Police said the 12-year-old was picked up by a family friend.
Police said Maggs was released with a summons to appear in court.
