Police: Man fatally shot at barbershop
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. —
A man was fatally shot Wednesday inside a barbershop in East Providence.
The shooting happened at about 2 p.m. at Krazy Kuts on Pawtucket Avenue.
Police Chief Christopher Parella said the victim was 42 years old and that he was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
Relatives said the victim is the barbershop's owner and sole employee.
Officers swarmed the area with rifles drawn and police dogs in hopes of tracking down the shooter.
"Investigation is ongoing. We're looking to see if any weapons were discarded. We do have some information that we're working on, but at this point it's way too preliminary to release anything other than that right now," Parella said.
No arrests have been made, but the chief said he does not feel anyone in the area is in danger.
"I don't think there's any reason for anyone in this area to be overly concerned right now," Parella said.
