Police: Man slashes woman, turns knife on himself
CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. —
A man and a woman remain at Rhode Island Hospital Saturday morning after a stabbing that occurred Thursday in Central Falls.
On Saturday, Central Falls Police have released the identity of the man who assaulted the 19-year-old woman after slashing her with a knife across the face on Thursday afternoon. He then took the knife to himself, slitting both his wrists and stabbing himself in the abdomen.
The incident happened on Thursday at an apartment on Brook Street around 2:55 p.m. Central Falls Police identify the 25-year-old man as Esbin Pineda of Central Falls.
Pineda was arraigned Friday evening on charges including Domestic Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felony Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Violation of a Restraining Order.
As of Saturday, Central Falls Detectives are still investigating a motive for the stabbing.
