Man charged in Wickenden Street stabbing
A man was charged with stabbing a man outside a well-known Providence coffee shop, police said Wednesday.
Maj. David Lapatin of the Providence Police Department said Johnston police arrested 38-year-old Osama Said and charged him with felony assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to police, Said stabbed 39-year-old Daniel Nichols in the chest near the Coffee Exchange on Wickenden Street at about 11 a.m. Police said an employee at the coffee shop held a towel over the man's wound until rescue crews arrived.
Nichols was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that police described as non-life threatening.
Police did not release any details about what led to the stabbing.
