Police seek assailants wanted in drive-by shooting

New Bedford police are looking for the assailants in a drive-by shooting that injured two men Monday.

Police said the victims were sitting in a red Dodge Charger in the area of Cottage and Robeson streets about 5 p.m. when a black SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire.

Police said a 24-year-old man in the driver's seat was shot in the arm. The other victim, a 27-year-old man, was shot in the hand and left elbow.

Police said at least six shots were fired.

Investigators said they believe the shooting was not random and that the shooters knew the victims.
