Police: Teen arrested after posting photos on Twitter
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. —
A 17-year-old was arrested after New Bedford police say he posted photos on his Twitter account of him holding a gun while bragging about the jewelry around his neck tempting people to try and rob him.
Police said the 17-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance within 300 feet of New Bedford High School.
After an investigation by detectives, police obtained a warrant to search an apartment on Hunter Street. Police said they found the 17-year-old leaving the area on his bicycle. He was later taken into custody.
Police said they found a semi-automatic handgun, 19 bags of cocaine, 14 rounds of ammunition and more than $1,400 in cash inside the apartment.
Detectives also said there were another five minors ranging from 5- to 15-years-old inside the apartment.
