Police: Teen pays man to purchase alcohol for drinking party
SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. —
A South Kingstown teen faces charges after police said he gave $10 to a random stranger to purchase $60 worth of alcohol, and then held an underage drinking party.
Thomas McDonald, 19, was arrested and charged with purchase or procurement of alcohol for a minor. He was issued a summons to appear in District Court on June 19.
Police said they were called to McDonald's home at White Pond Road at about 11:48 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a call for medical assistance.
Emergency crews found a 20-year-old girl who suffered a head injury as a result of fall down a flight of stairs. She was transported to South County Hospital.
Police said officers found several open containers of alcohol in the loft of a barn on the property.
McDonald told police he got the alcohol for the party by asking a random man entering O'Neill's Package Store in Narragansett to buy it for him. McDonald said he paid the man $10 to make a $60 purchase.?
