Providence church, farm store reach deal

A deal has been reached to end a dispute between a Providence church and the owners of a planned farm-supply store that wants to open shop across the street.

The Providence Journal reported that) officials at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church dropped their zoning fight against plans for the store on Broadway.

In return, the owners of CLUCK! agreed to limit the number of bees and chicks displayed at the store, hide coops with vegetation, not open on Sundays until after noon, and allow the church to use its lot for parking on Sunday mornings.

With the deal in place, the Zoning Board of Review approved plans for the store on Monday, without one provision sought by neighbors -- a list of what the store could and could not sell.
