Victor Capellan has dropped out of the Providence mayoral race.
Capellan an educator from Central Falls announced in a statement Sunday that he would not be running for the Office of Mayor of Providence in 2014.
In the statement Capellan talked about the journey that led to this decision "six months ago I launched an exploratory committee knowing that, together, we could make a difference and improve the lives of children and families in the capital city."
Capellan then went on to say that "after much thought and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the Office of Mayor of Providence in 2014."
The balancing act of the needs of the city of Providence and maintaining the level of commitment to the city of Central Falls and the work that he has done there are the reasons he cites for his decision not to run.
