The branch at 24 Corliss Street will stay open until 9 p.m. on April 15 to accommodate last minute filers.
Postal employees will also be at the West River Street branch from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to collect tax returns to help ease congestion at the main office.
If you are planning to mail the taxes before the deadline, the post office offers some tips.
- When addressing your returns, be sure to write or print neatly, double check the mailing address, and include a return address.
- If you would like to get the return in faster, use Priority Mail Express, which insures your documents and provides a receipt for mailing and delivery.
- Consider mailing your tax return by Certified Mail if you want a receipt to prove it was sent on time or Registered Mail if you have original receipts enclosed.
