Providence's Capital Grille moving to new location
PROVIDENCE — One well-known restaurant in Providence will soon be moving to a new location, and the future for the restaurant currently open in that space is now unclear. Managers at The Capital Grille told NBC 10 the restaurant will be moving in early 2015 from its location in Union Station to the space in the GTECH Center where Ruth's Chris Steak House is now. Caleb Cook works near Union Station in Downcity. He said he and his coworkers often go out to grab a drink or food at places like Capital Grille. But their choice of restaurant could change when Capital Grille moves across Memorial Boulevard. "This is convenience," Cook said. "You get out of the car, out of the garage and come right here, walk here. I know it's only across the street, but [it's] just having the green space and having close vicinity to all the other restaurants, having an easy choice." Sonny Vieng told NBC 10 he has lived in Providence his whole life but has never been to Capital Grille. For new customers such as him, he said the switch could be confusing, but for loyal customers, he thinks they will still go to Capital Grille. "It's not too far," Vieng said. "It's just like you know, another minute away and I don't think it'll impact it that much." Cook says he agrees, but the switch could change where he and his friends spend their evenings. "As far as the people who walk in off the street, like myself or anybody else like coworkers, the convenience is going to be affected by that so whoever moves in here will get us, I'm sure," Cook said. Managers at Ruth's Chris would not say what's next for that restaurant, including whether the place will close completely or move to a new location in Providence.
