Rhode Island Hospital wins national cancer award
Rhode Island Hospital's Comprehensive Cancer Center has been awarded the 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award, from the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer.
Only 74 health care facilities across the country with accredited cancer programs received the award last year.
The award recognizes excellence in providing quality care to a cancer patients.
The accreditation means Rhode Island Hospital offers access to information about clinical trials and research, as well as a special registry that collects cancer data, including treatment results and patient follow-up.
