Rhode Island sends help to Mass. after bombings

Rhode Island has been sending help to Massachusetts since bombings at the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured more than 170.

The governor's office says the Rhode Island Blood Center sent approximately 330 units of blood products to Boston-area hospitals.

The State Police also sent four troopers with explosive-detecting dogs, and the Rhode Island National Guard sent a four-member civil support team.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee says Americans come together at times like these, and Rhode Islanders will do what they can to help our neighbors.
