      RI, Mass gas prices still rising

      Gas prices continued to climb this week, jumping another 12 cents, according to AAA Southern New England.

      AAA's July 22 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.80 per gallon, 12 cents higher than last week. Prices locally are up 20 cents from a month ago. The current price is 13 cents higher than the national average for regular unleaded of $3.67. A year ago at this time Rhode Island's average price was 18 cents lower at $3.62.

      The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 18 cents, from a low of $3.73 to a high of $3.91.

      Gas prices in Massachusetts jumped up 9 cents, according to AAA Southern New England.

      Massachusetts drivers found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.71 per gallon, nine cents higher than last week. Prices locally are up 23 cents over the past month. The current price is four cents higher than the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.67. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was fifteen cents lower at $3.56.

      The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 26 cents, from a low of $3.63 to a high of $3.89
