RI principal placed on administrative leave
The principal of Central High School was placed on administrative leave on Friday, the Providence School Department said.
According to spokeswoman Christina O'Reilly, Michael Lazzareschi was placed on leave because of a personnel issue and wouldn't release any details because of legal reasons.
Lazzareschi has only been the school's principal for four months.
Lazzareschi took the job after he served as the principal of Nathan Bishop Middle School.
In 2008, he was named Rhode Island's Elementary School Principal of the Year for his work at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Providence.
