Man rescued from store's wall arraigned
WARWICK, R.I. —
A man who was found stuck inside the wall of a J.C. Penney store went before a judge Monday.
John Ryder, 25, was charged with breaking and entering. A Kent County judge set bail at $10,000 with surety.
Police said Ryder triggered an alarm inside the J.C. Penney store at the Warwick Mall early Saturday morning.
When officers arrived, Ryder apparently tried to hide by climbing through the ceiling of a men's room. He got stuck between cinder blocks and drywall and had to be rescued.
Police said Ryder had a backpack full of stolen items.
