The Diocese of Fall River said Tuesday it will close Sacred Heart Church after more than a century of serving the community.
The Diocese plans to close the church on Seabury Street on Nov. 23.
Parishioners will be invited to join St. Mary's Cathedral about a mile away.
The Diocese cited a dwindling parish population, growing debt, and needed, costly repairs.
The soup kitchen and food pantry at the church will be moved to the Holy Rosary Chapel on Beattie Street.
