Serious crash in Raynham brings out helicopter, Jaws of Life
RAYNHAM, Mass. —
A driver had to be extricated from a car following a crash in Raynham on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened at about 5:15 p.m. on South Street East.
Police said 61-year-old Janice Nolette, of Taunton was driving north in a Ford Taurus when the car crossed the center line and struck a Saab driven by 50-year-old Joanne Desousa, also of Taunton.
Police said Nolette was seriously injured and had to be extricate from the car. She was transported by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital. The helicopter used a Walmart parking lot nearby as a landing zone.
Desousa was transported to Morton Hospital with injuries that police described as non-life threatening.
The conditions of the accident victims were not immediately known.
Raynham police and state police are investigating the cause of the crash.
