Shooting, stabbing at cookout doesn't keep park goers away
BRISTOL, R.I. —
Rhode Island State Police continue to investigate a stabbing and shooting that happened at Colt State Park on Sunday.
But the violence did not seem to deter families from visiting the park on Memorial Day.
One woman told NBC 10 she heard of the argument and asked her teenage children to stay closer to their camper this Memorial Day.
Several families voiced regret that such violence would break out the day before Memorial Day. A day set aside to honor fallen servicemen and women.
Police report two men got into an argument Sunday at about 5 pm while at a Memorial Day Weekend cookout. The argument progressed to shots fired and a stabbing.
Both men were eventually transported from the Bristol park to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
