Sikorsky to eliminate 600 jobs

Connecticut-based defense contractor Sikorsky Aircraft plans to cut 600 jobs, and most of the job losses will be in Connecticut.

That's nearly 4 percent of its global workforce.

Sikorsky officials say the cuts follow news, that the Pentagon will reduce its order of Black Hawk helicopters, and that the job losses will be necessary to protect the company's{} competitiveness.

Sikorsky officials say it would split cuts equally between union and salaried employees.
