It was a Maori welcome for Britain's Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge in Christchurch Monday.{}

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also opened a new visitors centre at the city's Botanical Gardens. Huge crowds gathered across the city as locals came out to catch a glimpse of the Royal couple.

Prince William, in a speech at the air force museum, said "Christchurch was a city that has chosen not only to survive but to thrive" following 2011's devastating earthquake.
