Smithfield's 18th-century Arnold farmhouse facing the wrecking ball
SMITHFIELD, R.I. —
Preservation officials in Smithfield are working to save the Arnold farmhouse on Whipple Road.
The structure dates back to 1750.
A developer recently purchased the land to convert into homes, and has plans to demolish the farmhouse.
A town ordinance gives those who want to save the farmhouse 60 days to change the developer's mind.
There is a chance the farmhouse could be saved, or moved to a new location.
