Stabbing arrest in New Bedford

Police are investigating a stabbing that happened Friday morning on Grinnell Street in New Bedford.

Michael Fabiano, 23, of Swansea is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

Detectives say it started with an argument between the suspect and his mother's male acquaintance. Fabiano's mother rent's an apartment on Grinnell St.

"The argument allegedly began when the suspect moved the victim's vehicle, without his permission," said New Bedford police in a press release. "The fight continued outside and the victim was allegedly stabbed by the suspect."

Police say the victim suffered stab wounds to the left chest, right rear back, and two small wounds to the left wrist.

The suspect was later found at his girlfriend's apartment in Darmouth. Fabiano was taken into custody 11:30am Friday without incident and with the assistance of Dartmouth police officers.
