Students came to aid of victims in fiery I-95 crash
Two high school students said Thursday that they raced to the aid of the victims in a fiery car crash because they just wanted to help.
Bishop Hendricken High School senior John Cute and junior Lee Moses were leaving track practice and heading to Providence on Tuesday evening. While on Interstate 95 they noticed a crash and two vehicles on fire on the other side of the highway.
Cute stopped the car and ran across traffic to help the people standing outside of the vehicles. Moses followed and helped keep the shocked drivers safe.
After making sure the people were OK, Cute returned to the burning vehicles to make sure no one else was inside. The young men said they were afraid the cars would blow up and just didn't want to see anyone get hurt.
The crash caused a major traffic jam. State police said one of the drivers rear-ended the other. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
