Here's an example of what not to do if you're hard up for cash.
In Tennessee, police arrested a man they say faked being held hostage in order to get a ransom -- from his mom.
Zachery Logsdon's mother called police after her son sent her text messages claiming his "dealer" was going to kill him if he didn't get $200.
But his mother was suspicious, she says he had pulled a similar stunt in the past to try to get money for drugs.
She called 911, and police arranged a drop-off spot for the money.
When Logsdon himself showed up, police arrested him.
Police say he repeated the story about being taken hostage. But when his story kept changing, they charged him with filing a false report and resisting arrest.
