Sunday Brunch: Cinnamon Orange Pecan Spirals

Cinnamon Orange Pecan Spirals

Yields 30

9 tbsp. sugar

1 tbsp. ground cinnamon

3 tbsp. melted butter

1 box ( 2 sheets puff pastry) thawed

1 cup toasted chopped pecans

The zest of one large orange minced

Method of Preparation:

  1. Preheat an over to 400 degrees.
  2. In a bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon and mix well.
  3. Lay the 2 pieces of pastry on the counter lengthwise and paint both sides with the melted butter, then sprinkle some of the sugar cinnamon on each side.
  4. Mix the nuts and orange zest together and any extra cinnamon sugar and sprinkle this on the top side of the dough.
  5. Now roll the dough gently but forcing the air out of it until it makes a tight roll.
  6. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 1 hour, remove and slice into 1" pieces and flip them down cut side up with a little space between the pieces and bake for 20-22 min. Let cool a bit then remove to a platter.

Using a Silt Pat is excellent but a lightly sprayed sheet pan covered in aluminum foil work well also. Makes it easy to clean up.
