Sunday Brunch: Wisconsin Apple Bread

Wisconsin Apple Bread


Serves 6-8


1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 stick unsalted butter softened

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups sifted all purpose flour

1 tsp. baking soda

Pinch salt

1/2 tsp.

{}ground cinnamon

2/3 cup milk

2 cups peeled, small diced apples

1/3 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Method of prep:


  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Using a 9"x5" casserole dish sprayed with veg spray and flour it well.
  3. In a bowl, whisk into smooth the sugar, egg and butter.
  4. Add the vanilla, flour and baking soda.
  5. Add the salt, cinnamon and blend well until smooth.
  6. Add the apples and nuts {}and pour into the floured casserole dish and bake for 50 min. Remove from the oven and let sit for 20 min then invert the dish to remove the bread and drizzle either chocolate topping or caramel topping over.
