Providence police said Wednesday that they have charged a man wanted in the thefts of handrailings from Waterplace Park.
William Hazard, 52, was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of possession of stolen property. He was being held at the ACI.
At least 50 feet of brass handrails were reported missing early Tuesday morning from the park. Witnesses said they heard the sound of a saw.
Police said someone has been stealing the handrails on staircases leading to the water for several months.
Police said in a news release that two other people were previously arrested and charged.
