Sutter announces re-election bid
FALL RIVER, Mass. — Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter announced Monday that he plans to seek re-election.
Sutter made the announcement at the Fall River Cultural Center.
Sutter was first elected in 2006 and ran unopposed in 2010.
The Democrat said he's increased homicide convictions while decreasing gun violence in Bristol County. But he said there's still more to be done.
"Over the past two years, we have solved 21 of the past 22 homicides, and won 19 of the last 20 homicide trials," Sutter said.
Sutter also announced he will personally prosecute the Aaron Hernandez murder case when the former New England Patriot tight end goes on trial for the killing of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd.
