Swarm of bees, hive removed from tree in Providence

A swarm of bees was discovered Friday morning outside the Arcade in Providence.

No injuries were reported.

Beekeepers were called to capture and remove the bees from a tree outside the Arcade.

Ed Lafferty, owner of Fruit Hill Apiaries in North Providence, told NBC 10 that after several tries they were able to capture the queen bee and remove most of the swarm.

The bees were taken back to Fruit Hill Apiaries where they are being cared for.

Lafferty told NBC 10 it is not unusual to see a swarm of bees in the city.
