Teen's modified tricycle found, but damaged

The mother of a disabled 17-year-old says a specially made tricycle was stolen from her son.

Providence police said Monday that a tricycle custom-made for a Providence teenager with disabilities has been found, but it is inoperable.

The tricycle was found early this morning near Roger Williams Park.

The tricycle was reported stolen last week by the boy's mother, Donna Thompson.

Thompson said her son, Wayne, always dreamed about riding a bike. She said his physical therapist donated a $7,000 specially-made tricycle that supports Wayne's scoliosis.

Thompson said the tricycle was taken just as her son was released from the hospital.

An online fundraising campaign began after it was stolen raised about $4,700.
