Undercover investigation leads to arrest in child porn case

Rhode Island State Police arrest a Providence man on child pornography charges.

According to a State Police press release, an undercover investigation led authorities to an internet connection at a home in Johnston that was allegedly used to download images of child pornography.

After a search of the home, Matthew Viano, 30, was identified as a former resident.

Member of the State Police Computer Crimes Unit/Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Viano and charged him with Possession and Transfer of Child Pornography.

Viano was released on $10,000 surety bail with special conditions including no Internet access and no contact with children. His current residence is an apartment on George St in Providence.
