Firefighters protest at Raimondo fundraiser

Union firefighters protested Thursday night outside a downtown Providence restaurant where state General Treasurer Gina Raimondo was holding a fundraiser.

Raimondo was the architect of a state pension reform plan in 2011 that is now being hashed out in court-ordered mediation.

Raimondo, a Democrat, is widely expected to run for governor in 2014.{} She's held an event at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dorrance Restaurant.

About 100 firefighters with signs protested behind barricades across the street.{} The firefighters jeered as people went into the restaurant, but the protest was otherwise orderly.
