URI unveils new 5K running course
SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. —
The University of Rhode Island has established a 5K run course, certified by United States Track and Field.
It's the work of 2013 graduate Emma Montague, and the Office of Student Involvement.
The first event on the new course is the "Pound the Pavement, Pound A Nail 5K Run, Walk, Mosey" on Sunday to benefit South County Habitat for Humanity.
The course gives runners a scenic view of the campus, and markers at each mile of the run.
A calendar of 5K events is already filling up.
