Verizon line worker killed in Charlestown industrial accident
CHARLESTOWN, R.I. —
A Hopkinton man was killed when he came into contact with electrical wires on the job in Charlestown.
Residents called 9-1-1 just before noon Saturday, to report an explosion in the area of Alton-Carolina road.
Police tell NBC 10 a Verizon lineman, identified as 41 year old Charles Austin, was working on an installation when he came into contact with live wires near his truck.
The incident remains under investigation by local police, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Verizon, and National Grid.
