Warwick man sentenced to probation for unemployment fraud

A Warwick man plead no contest in Superior Court on Wednesday to charges he bilked the state out of more than $10,000 in unemployment benefits.

The Rhode Island Attorney General's office says 46-year-old Joseph Carani failed to report his weekly earnings from a job in Cranston, for nearly three years.

In all, Carani collected $10,305 between November 2008 and August 2011.

He was sentenced to 10 years probation, and ordered to pay full restitution to the state.
