White's Family Fun and Sports Center to close
ACUSHNET, Mass. — White's Family Fun and Sports Center in Acushnet will be closing its doors after this weekend, or until any interested parties lease out the facility to see if they can make a go of it.
David White, the 81-year-old owner, has been running the center for decades at the spot that used to be a dairy farm.
The center was popular for birthday parties and family fun. White said at the center's peak, about 7,000 people a day would come through the gates.
However, he said the latest numbers were just a trickle.
Some of the center's rides are being sold to the Edaville Amusement Complex in Carver, while others are still for sale like the Bozo the Clown Train Ride.
White has other businesses based in and around the property. He said he'll be available to consult anyone interested in leasing and operating the arcade, creamery, mini golf course and bumper boats.
The center will be open from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
